Baikal: Sacred Sea of Siberia
Published in Hardcover by Sierra Club Books (October, 1992)
Average review score:

the spirit of SiberiaThe hardcover book is a jewel: the pictures are absolutely beautiful, and the texts which accompany them is interesting. The excerpts from Valentin Rasputin's books on Lake Baikal are well chosen. It is extremely interesting to "meet" this controversial Russian author in the way we do through this book. He deserves praise for his environmental work, especially in such a country as Russia. The book definetely makes you wish to visit the place. It sounds loike a spiritual enriching experience, the lake seems alive...

The Barn at Gun Lake (Tuitel, Johnnie, Gun Lake Gang Adventure Series, Bk. 1.)
Published in Paperback by Cedar Tree Pub (January, 1998)
Average review score:

An excellent book!I am 17 and have cerebral palsy. I've known Johnnie Tuitel for many years, so I was pleased to see his books. I was even more pleased to see how his sense of humor and adventure shines through in his writing. It's very refreshing to find someone who can express the frustrations and triumphs everyone with CP (or any disability, for that matter) runs into, and Johnnie and Sharon do it in such a way that Johnnie Jacobson (the main character) still seems like just one of the gang at Gun Lake. I recommend this book to anyone who likes mystery and adventure, able-bodied and disabled alike. :)

The Battle of Britain
Published in Hardcover by Book Sales (May, 2001)
Average review score:

Excellent Choice !The Battle of Britain was the most important military contest of the 20th Century, and some would argue in man's history. One can safely say that what we identify as ''Western Culture'' with references to such things as democracy and humanity were on the line. And yet, in the summer of 1940 a small and unlikely group of heroes (RAF pilots) rose into the skies over England to defend the West against the ''invaders from the East (the Nazis)'', and they alone had the responsibility for preserving Western Civilization (the US would not enter the war until Dec. of 1941, long after the Battle of Britain was over). You can learn just how precarious the situation was (as many people in that time did not see the situation for what it was) through this book, and how this group of mostly inexperienced RAF pilots saved the day ! This book also will serve as an excellent chronological reference of the battle's main phases, and contains detailed information on the aircraft and squadrons of both sides. It also has a large collection of color and b/w photographs from the time as well.

Bed, Breakfast & Bike Western Great Lakes
Published in Paperback by Anacus Press, Inc. (01 June, 2000)
Average review score:

Sit back and relaxThis is a great resource book written through actual experiences of the authors. Great pictures and references. The book shares information that is not readily available through tourist information. It makes you want to get out your bike and ride along with nature. One does not have to be biking to enjoy the Bed &Breakfast establishments visited in the book.

Berlitz Lake District Pocket Guide (Berlitz Pocket Guides)
Published in Paperback by Berlitz Multimedia (August, 1999)
Average review score:

Superb First BookIf you are looking for your fist guide book then this is great. I was born in the UK and know the lakes fairly well, having walked many of the hills. I bought this guide for a trip in 2004 as I havent been in the UK since 1997.
It is a superb pocket book with snippets about most things. The maps is pretty basic, so get yourself a nice Ordnance Survey map 1:25,000 or 1:12500 when you arrive.
Excellent, easy to carry little book!I am VERY pleased with the Berlitz Lake District Pocket Guide. It is a small, compact little book but is nonetheless clear and easy to read. Unlike many guide books, the paragraphs are well deliniated and the desired information about specific locations is easy to find. The photos are of good quality and the fold-out maps on front and back cover are especially handy. I am pleased to find such a comprehensive guidebook for this region without having to purchase a large and cumbersome tourbook with lots of unwanted information. I highly reccommend this little book for those who are considering travel to this beautiful corner of the world!

Bernard Wheel and the Lake Elsinore Boys
Published in Paperback by Xlibris Corporation (01 September, 2000)
Average review score:

Fun, Exciting . . . It's a Book? This book is fun, interesting, catchy and leaves a big question mark in your head about what will happen next to Bernard Wheel and the Lake Elsinore Boys. This book also reminds you that you can do anything if you believe, or in other words, you can do anything with mind over matter. The book hypnotizes you to read more and more. It is the kind of book you can read over and over according to my son, who is a fifth grader.

Best Easy Day Hikes Glacier and Waterton Lakes (FalconGuide)
Published in Paperback by Falcon Publishing Company (May, 1998)
Average review score:

Very Good for the MoneyIts construction is not as durable as one would like for a reference to carry with you while hiking, but what can one expect for that small an asking price? However, the descriptions and maps for each hike are easy to understand--even for the novice hiker. 25 easy hikes are included in the book, with distance, degree of difficulty, time required, and elevation change included. There are no pictures in the book, but still its very well done.

The Biggest Fish in the Lake
Published in Hardcover by Kids Can Press (March, 2003)
Average review score:

It doesn't get any better than thisJust in time for the opening of fishing season we are treated to this glorious book, recounting a small girls'experience catching her first fish. It has all the elements of a childrens classic, just waiting for someone to read and show it to a future fishing buddy. I say read and show because the illustrations are works of art in their own right. In this second collaboration between Carney and Wilson the real winners are the children lucky enough to have a parent or grandparent that will sit and share this very good book with them. It should find a place in every librarys' childrens section. I bought seven copies, one for each of the grandchildren and two for the local librarys.
